We start with the first hot spot that has left us with a series of mixed feelings. The mobile, at first glance, is not the most beautiful that exists on the market . Little by little we have been getting used to the straight lines, which bring more seriousness and class to the devices; Well, the Redmi Note 9T bets on the curves as the basis of the design. We notice it not only in the frames of the phone, but also in the screen and even in the core of the main camera, which is a large circle located at the rear.

We like that each mobile has its own personality. However, in this case the design abandons the more adult and minimalist aesthetic a bit , which, in our opinion, favors designs a lot. It has normal dimensions, with 161.96 x 77.25 x 9.05 mm ; in addition to a weight of 199 grams . The main material of the casing is plastic with a rough finish, to prevent it from slipping. Even so, we recommend putting the cover that is included in the package because it is still difficult to handle.

Regarding the location of the different terminals, in the upper part we have a series of microphones and the main speaker; below another microphone, the type C and Jack connectors, as well as another small speaker; on the right side, the volume buttons and the unlock button, which is also the fingerprint reader, which in this case is not included on the screen; finally, on the left side there is only the slot for the SIM card.

With other screens we have been able to expand a lot, but this one has not given us enough play. They are 6.53 inches with a Corning Gorilla Glass material cover . It is a fairly large screen, that must be recognized, so it favors those who are used to seeing a lot of audiovisual content on their mobile. The ratio, therefore, bets on a 5: 9, something different than smaller screens. The front camera is integrated into the screen with a small circular island in the upper left.

The technology it has is IPS Full HD . Those of you who like smartphones will have heard of this type of screen, which favors durability . It is a point in favor of this mobile, because its touch screen has a design prepared to last for a long time without being affected. Although on the contrary, something that we did not like is how bad it responds to light exposure, since with the brightness at maximum it was difficult to see the screen well .

With all this, it is still a screen that mid-range phones have accustomed us to, in which we cannot expect results at the height of much more expensive options. Under normal conditions it looks good and is large, so we can settle for this.

Before entering to analyze each of the sensors in a more exhaustive way, we are going to make a small summary that defines very well the bet made by Xiaomi; a main sensor at the height and other filling .

The main sensor is 48 megapixels , with an aperture f / 1.79; Without a doubt, this is the objective that you are going to use the most if you acquire this device. It is at the level of the rest of the market, which despite certain exceptions, has the standard in this amount of MP, although the aperture is somewhat smaller and the amount of light with which we can work will vary a lot. In addition, it has another depth sensor , capable of detecting the objects to which it is going to take the photo through infrared, but with a very low number of megapixels, with only two. To finish with the main rear camera modules we have to talk about the 2 megapixel macro sensor. With this we will be able to take much more detailed photos, a type of sensor that we like a lot, but that at the moment of truth we rarely use.

Performance and operating system

We often repeat the mantra that it is difficult to find an upper-middle-range smartphone that works really badly, and although it is sometimes hard to believe, it is a fact. Better performing mobiles capable of withstanding heavy loads of activity are being created every day. However, there are always certain characteristics that manage to change our opinion a bit. In the case of Redmi Note 9T, it is the 4GB of RAM that it has .

Despite having a Mediatek Dimensity 800U processor , a high quality component, the little effort they have put in with such a limited RAM makes the survival of the mobile much shorter. It works well, that’s true, but over time we should be noticing a drop in quality, speed and efficiency in performance. We have already gotten used to the 6-8GB RAM ratio and it is difficult to fall below that limit.

The operating system of this device is the usual one of the latest Xiaomi models, the MIUI 12 , very good if you like customization, but with certain problems. It produces a large consumption of resources and the 4GB of RAM already mentioned does not help in this regard. But if we focus on the design, it is a very attractive system, with a lot of content and ready to be used with ease. All supported on Android 10 , although this is already something that everyone should be more used to.

Standard connectivity and great battery

The connections of the Redmi Note 9T follow the almost imposed trends within the market. Virtually all devices today have the same options and it is very rare to see any of them go outside the norm. As for wireless connections, we have Bluetooth 5.1, Wifi, NFC or the almost unusable infrared. In each review we cite the same but, in reality, no more is needed to make efficient use of wireless connectivity. And moving on to cable connections, USB Type-C and a 3.5mm Jackto connect speakers or headphones. You should not have any problem connecting your phone with any other device or network, in fact, we like that they include another connection in the form of a Jack so as not to have to share the type C space with the charger.

To conclude this section, we are going to talk about the battery. Once again, a company returns to bet on the powerful battery plus fast charge combo. They are 5000 mAh that extend the useful life of the device enough for an autonomy of more than a day in standard use . In addition, the 18W fast charge helps us to recover our device as soon as possible. It is true that it is not the most prepared charger we have seen, but the truth is that it recharges the mobile very quickly, at least enough so that it does not suppose us a heavy task. Finally, we cannot forget the storage space it has, which in this case is 64 or 128 GB, depending on the option we choose.
