How to display the toolbar on the desktop
Want to know how to display the toolbar on your PC desktop? In this case, all you have to do is follow the instructions I gave you in the next chapters dedicated to Windows and macOS .
Display the toolbar in Windows
If you want to see the toolbar in Windows , you have to consider two cases: you can no longer see the Windows taskbar or the File Explorer toolbar . In this guide of mine, I will show you how to find a solution in both cases, but let’s go in order.
If you want to act on Windows 11 to bring up the taskbar , press the Start key on your keyboard and then click the Settings icon . Now, in the Personalization tab on the left, scroll down the screen and expand the Behaviors section of the taskbar . All you have to do is remove the check mark from the box next to the item Automatically hide the taskbar to make the bar appear at the bottom again.
If your Windows 11 PC is connected to multiple displays, also enable the Show taskbar in all displays item , so that this bar can be displayed on each screen. Through the next item, you can choose one of the options in the drop-down menu to decide whether the application icons should be shown on the taskbar in each screen.
To restore the Windows 10 taskbar display , move the mouse pointer to the bottom edge of the screen or press the Windows key on your keyboard so that you can see it. Now, right-click on it and, from the context menu, choose the Taskbar Settings item, to reach the Windows Settings panel .
If you are unable to perform the above-mentioned procedures, simply press the Windows + [i] buttons on your keyboard. From the Windows Settings panel , click on Personalization and select the Taskbar item from the left side section. Now you just have to move the lever from ON to OFF , corresponding to the item Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode .
In this window, you can also change the position of the bar via the drop-down menu corresponding to the entry Position of the taskbar on the screen . If, on the other hand, you have multiple monitors connected to your computer, continue scrolling the screen and locate the Multiple Displays section ; then move the lever corresponding to the item Show application bar in all screens from OFF to ON .
On the taskbar you can also enable the display of additional information by activating additional toolbars, such as Addresses , Shortcuts or the Desktop . To do this, right-click on the taskbar and, from the context menu, select the Toolbars item .
Then click on one of the items that are shown to you: Addresses , to quickly reach a path inside the PC or a website, Links , to group quick links to files and applications, Desktop , to show all the elements present on the desktop in a context menu, or New Toolbar , to create your own.
If, on the other hand, you want to restore the toolbar display inside a File Explorer folder , open any Windows 10 folder and click on the icon with the symbol (˅) that you find in the upper right corner, near to the one with the symbol [?] . Easy, right?
Display the toolbar on Mac
If you have by mistake enabled the ability to automatically hide macOS bars (such as Dock or the menu bar ), you can display them permanently again by acting from the settings panel of this Apple operating system.
To do this, place the mouse pointer in the top left corner of the desktop to bring up the menu bar and select the Apple icon . In the menu that is shown to you, click on the System Preferences item and then on the Dock and menu bar icon .
At this point, what you need to do to show the menu bar and the Dock again is to remove the check mark from the boxes next to the items Automatically show and hide the menu bar and Automatically show and hide the Dock .
