How to put your keyboard in QWERTY or AZERTY
Do you need to change your computer keyboard for professional reasons or do you want to immerse yourself in a French-speaking environment to learn French?
To type in French without problems and having direct access to the caret or the French quotation marks, it will be very useful to switch from the QWERTY keyboard to the AZERTY . This operation is very simple, but it may vary depending on the device.
With the Windows 10 operating system, for example, go to the Start menu, Settings, select Time and Language and then Region and Language to select the desired keyboard language and keyboard type.
After adding the language on the computer, you can switch from the QWERTY keyboard to the AZERTY keyboard or vice versa, with the help of keyboard shortcuts. Quick and easy, this operation allows you to switch from one keyboard to another without having to open multiple windows.
In Windows, three keyboard shortcuts are used:
- Shift + Alt,
- Alt + Shift,
- Shift + Alt Gr.
Please note that all devices can switch from QWERTY to AZERTY: PC and Mac, mobiles and tablets.
On the other hand, the acronym of the keyboard language appears in the lower right part of the task bar: ESP, FRA, ENG … By clicking on the acronyms, you can also change the language quickly.
It may happen that the keyboard language changes by itself or you change it unintentionally.
Thus, the “a” becomes “q”, the “ñ” disappears, the “m” changes places and the keyboard shortcuts change. For example, Ctrl + A (in AZERTY) is used to select all the text, instead of Ctrl + E, which can be a significant waste of time.
