The Christmas catalog and the memories of mum and dad

If you are a parent between the ages of 33 and 40, for you the Christmas catalog is not just a communication product with commercial purposes, it is a fond memory.

In the 80s and 90s there was no Internet, or rather, it did not have the widespread and multi-platform diffusion of this 2019, and if we exclude the commercials that revolved around Bim Bum Bam, the toy catalog was the only source of information that we children (the writer is 40 years old) had to formulate our requests to Santa Claus.

The catalog in our hands was the terror of the parents and the joy for us, who spent hours dreaming of new games and confronting our friends in a triumph of circles and orecchiette on those precious sheets.

This too is the magic of Christmas: faded memories and present so different from what we experienced as children.

Our mothers and fathers, however, to stem the impossible requests somehow always managed to direct us in the choices and now it’s up to us. And today we can count on a lot more information, different information channels. Including ours.
