CUCKOO!!! THE MONTESSORI PANEL OF ANIMALS!
The child is a growing body and an unfolding soul. CUCKOO!!! THE MONTESSORI PANEL OF ANIMALS!
Have you ever tried to experiment with the Montessori method at home?
The funniest way to do this is by DIY making the educational materials. The basic principles of this learning style, in fact, make it easily applicable by everyone!
Especially in preschool age, the Montessori method focuses on the sensory development of the child, encouraging the sensitivity of touch, sight and hearing . Another important aspect is autonomy and independence in the game, which must be able to be played even without the mediation of adults. The security acquired in the family environment will then be of great help in managing relationships with the outside world.
By following these fundamental guidelines, it is possible to carry out many fun activities at low cost using cardboard, recycled materials and common objects present in the home. The most famous activities are those that work on the recognition of colors, on the association of shapes, on the production of sounds and on the fine motor skills of the hands.
The idea that we propose today stimulates language and memory and to do so it meets the innate fascination that children feel for animals …
Here’s how to make your own cuckoo panel!
What is needed:
- cardboard or felt in different colors
- tissue paper with the mantle of animals
- images of animals
- rigid media (thick card stock)
- scissors, glue,
Start by cutting the colored cards (or felt) that will be used to cover the images of the animals. The rectangles must be a few centimeters larger than the photos.
Then take the tissue paper and with the help of a glass (or other) make circles for each animal. Obviously, each animal must have a corresponding coat circle. If you can’t find tissue paper with animal coats, you can search the internet for textures and print them: they are easily found.
Now assemble all the components! Glue the circles in the center of the colored cards and the photographs of the animals on the support you have chosen as a panel. When everything is well fixed proceed by applying the cards with the mantle over the corresponding animal. The glue must be applied only on the upper side, taking advantage of the extra centimeters calculated in the cutout of the cards; all other sides must be left free.
That’s it … when the glue is dry, hang the panel at a height that is easily accessible or lay it on the ground and let the children play … intrigued they will immediately start lifting the cards to discover the animals.
You can ask them what they see and let them repeat the names of the animals, the verses, the colors and everything they notice … You can also ask them to guess the animal from the coat on the card …
Having fun, a great activity on language and memory will be set in motion …
