DOOR OF ELVES: WHAT IT IS AND HOW TO MAKE IT
” There is only one rule you have to follow to get me back and be here tomorrow: Please don’t touch me, my magic may disappear, and Santa won’t know everything I’ve seen and know” DOOR OF ELVES, WHAT IT IS AND HOW TO MAKE IT.
The Elf on the Shelf: DOOR OF ELVES
Christmas is upon us and this year we feel even more the desire to make this moment magical.
Someone has already anticipated the decorations and chosen the color for their tree but you have also heard about a new trend, with Nordic origins, which has landed in our homes.
This is the door of the elves.
The latter has almost completely replaced the legend according to which Santa Claus came down the chimney to bring gifts to the little ones.
In modern houses it is very difficult to find a fireplace so this legend has been replaced by that of the elves.
Who Are The Elves? DOOR OF ELVES
Elves are supernatural creatures that have origins from Scandinavian mythology, belonging to the traditional pre-Christian religion.
From the literary point of view, they make their first appearance in Shakespearean literature; at the beginning of the twentieth century, with the birth of fantasy literature, they become perfect protagonists of short stories and novels.
Modern tradition, on the other hand, has always seen elves as nice creatures, protagonists of popular fiction and famous for being Santa’s helpers at the North Pole.
However, it seems that the task of these cute elves is not limited only to the tireless help to give to Santa Claus or to the construction of toys for the little ones.
It seems that they can move “away”, from their fairy world to our “land”, to observe children during their daily lives.
Educational Value: DOOR OF ELVES
Can a small door take on a great symbolic and educational value?
Absolutely yes!
The door takes on a symbolic value, becoming the means through which to have access to the world of magic and fantasy.
Through the realization, the parent can stimulate the child’s creativity, subsequently leaving room for the legend, stimulating their imagination.
Symbolically, the door will take on a magical value and the elf will take care of “watching over” the little ones, driving away the monsters and taking care of the toys to be repaired.
If left in the child’s room all year round, it takes on an important educational value, becoming a sort of safe haven where you can learn to express and manage your emotions.
There are no rules for either construction or legend.
It is important that the door is placed in a “special” place and that the child does not touch or move it, otherwise it will lose its magical meaning.
In order for the child to believe the legend, it will be up to you parents to leave a trace of the presence of the elves; perhaps through cookies or messages written directly by the “leader” of the elves for your child.
Realization: DOOR OF ELVES
Let’s now move on to the practical and fun part of the construction.
What do you need?
Depends: DOOR OF ELVES
– if you want to make a simple door with recycled material, cardboard, colored pencils or felt-tip pens and scissors will suffice.
– If you want to take advantage of the creative moment, you can make a door with plasticine, painting it in the color of your choice and adding glitter to give it even more magic.
– Finally, for felt lovers, another suggestion is to make the door with a cardboard base to be covered with felt sheets and Christmas lights.
In short, the watchword must be Fantasy!
Knock .. Knock. Have you already made your door to welcome the elf?
