EA denies signing up for ad implementation in its games, contradicting a previous report
Simulmedia’s PlayerWON system was set to hit games from Hi-Rez and Electronic Arts.)
This week at 3DJuegos, we picked up a report from Axios according to which the advertising company Simulmedia had signed agreements with some publishers such as Electronic Arts to implement the PlayerWON system in their games . With this, players would have the option to view ads in exchange for digital rewards . The news has reached the ears of the parents of FIFA or Battlefield, who have come to the fore to clarify the situation.
“As a result of the incorrect reports that suggest that we are planning to introduce advertisements such as those of television in our games, we want to clarify that right now we are not considering introducing advertisements for console games [read more as desktop] nor have we signed agreements to implement them “explains a company representative to PC Gamer.
“Creating the best possible user experience remains our top priority.” Thus, EA ignores the matter contradicting the words that Dave Madden, EVP of Simulmedia, would have shared with Axios in the original report. In other words, the case is still open in some way and will have to be on the lookout for possible new details.
PlayerWON allows companies to make their free to play games even more profitable , compensating for the fact that 90% of players do not buy in-game items or services. In particular, it seems to be the only way to monetize audiences between 18 and 34 years of age, which is more difficult to convince (which is why the Fortnite art style is the watchword of this class of games). EA has already introduced similar ads in the UFC , although the experiment did not go well.
