5 games to play in the classroom
Staggered entrances, masks always on the face, single desks, hands always clean and disinfected, little freedom of movement. Primary school children are experiencing a busy school year, which has challenged many of their habits and which does not always meet their needs in terms of movement and contact to share with classmates and teachers.
So here are some ideas dedicated to students and teachers, to make pleasant and fun breaks and feel close even when you have to give up hugs.
CHINESE MORRA
Often the best answer is the simplest one. And what could be simpler to do in class, at a distance of one meter from each other, during recess, if not the Chinese morra? Maybe organizing a mini tournament among all the students, noting the phases on a cardboard board .
Ready for rock, paper and scissors?
NAMES, THINGS AND CITIES
In this too, let’s keep it simple but fun. A letter of the alphabet and some categories to choose together to then find the words starting with that letter.
And you can make a variation that involves class and teachers, with two teams and two diagrams on the board . A perfect game for primary school, but also for secondary classes and, why not, maybe even using the foreign languages studied in the institute.
GAME OF MIMES
The body is used but without any contact with others, so it is perfect. One child / teenager has to mimic an activity or the title of a movie or book, and the others have to guess. The version with two teams is also fun, since the mechanism of the race is more and more captivating.
BATTLESHIP
Squared sheets and maybe a scheme are enough to organize a tournament that can last even days, which eliminates and then semifinals and final. The naval battle can be done at a distance but between bench neighbors, so you can have fun in total safety.
THE INVESTIGATOR
One pupil plays the detective and leaves the classroom while the teacher assigns another pupil the role of the thief. When the little detective comes back he can ask his companions questions that can only answer yes or no. Once the thief is found, he plays the investigator for a new round.
