Google has renewed the younger brother of the Pixel 4 series , providing it not only with 5G connectivity, but also with a better processor (as expected), a larger screen and a photographic configuration traced to the new Pixel 5, but keeping the spirit intact. of the A series in terms of price and aesthetics. In terms of design, the new Google Pixel 4a 5G recycles the plastic and sober design of the original Pixel 4a, including the fingerprint reader, the perforation of the front camera and the position of the photographic module, although it should be noted that the latter now has dual cameras.
The screen has made the leap to 6.2 inches , also raising the resolution to 2,340 x 1,080 pixels (413ppp). It is an OLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 3 glass to protect it from scratches.
It should be noted that it does not have water resistance, a feature that is present in the new Google Pixel 5.
Goodbye Snapdragon 730G, hello Snapdragon 765G
The Google Pixel 4a 5G ditches the Snapdragon 730G in favor of the new Snapdragon 765G , which is slightly more powerful and adds 5G network connectivity on the NSA and SA bands. The memory options remain the same, there is 6GB of RAM + 128GB of internal storage and that’s it. Powering the terminal we have a 3,885mAh battery with 18-watt fast charge.
Android 11 makes an appearance in this terminal, being the most recent version of Google’s operating system. In terms of connectivity, the mobile has Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.0 + LE, A2DP, NFC, GPS and even more interesting: 5G.
Finally, the Google Pixel 4a 5G shares the photographic configuration of the Pixel 5, being a 12MP + 16MP dual camera (wide angle). Meanwhile, the front camera is 8MP and has f / 2.0 aperture. As is the custom, Google is betting on artificial intelligence and software to improve camera results instead of using more sensors or higher resolutions.
Availability and price
The Google Pixel 4a 5G will cost 499 dollars or euros, but at the moment its launch has only been confirmed in the United States and some countries in Europe, such as Germany. There is still no official information about its availability in Spain.
