How to draw a beach?

Drawing a beach  is, as you can imagine, very different from drawing a mountain. The key to drawing a beach lies in the nuances of color between the sand, the sea and the sky. Some cartoonists play with these colors to merge the sea with the sky, according to the specific effects and artistic techniques of each one.

Tips for drawing a beach
Assemble your easel and voila!

To start drawing the beach, just like to draw the mountain, you will need to  make a sketch.  As it is done with a wooden pencil and an eraser, you should not be afraid of making too many lines. It is not always necessary to remove them. It is important that you let yourself go and that you are not afraid of being wrong . This is how your sketches will be more and more successful. Hence the interest in using an erasable pencil when starting to draw.

Afterwards, you have the option of moving on to the inking phase , which consists of reviewing the lines you want to keep with, for example, colored pencils, India ink, a pen … Whatever you want. Once the ink is dry, you can erase the sketch lines with the eraser.

Another solution, used by many illustrators, is to  trace the final lines of the drawing.  Using a light table, or failing that, a window, you simply place the sketch under the blank sheet, and then copy the good lines.

Once the drawing is clean, you can also color it with watercolors, markers, colored pencils, wash, acrylic, pastels, etc.

To correctly draw a landscape such as a beach, the most important thing is to observe. Therefore, you must, above all to make a realistic drawing, observe all the details and take your time to admire the beach and soak up the decoration. There are worse things, right?

Feel free to practice regularly drawing beach sketches to get used to it. The more you draw, the more your hand, and also your brain, will get used to  observing and reproducing . The proportions will be easier to draw. By drawing ten or twenty minutes a day, you can quickly progress as an artist.
