Not too long ago we were listing the Neffos C7s , which we believed was the most affordable TP-LINK terminal released this year. However, now there is another even cheaper device , and it is the Neffos A5 , which bets on the Android Go platform and brings interesting things to the table when judged in its respective price range, such as a large screen. It doesn’t sacrifice HD resolution in favor of size, AI face unlock, and TÜV battery certification. If you like what you see, then we invite you to continue reading.

Large display and conservative design : Neffos A5, TP-Link bets on Android Go in this affordable mobile
In terms of appearances and look, the Neffos A5 has nothing special, but we cannot say that it is bad either, on the contrary, it looks good for the price range in which it is (below 90 euros) and, for If that wasn’t enough, it has a fairly wide 5.99-inch screen that doesn’t sacrifice HD + resolution , which is pretty common on Android Go devices .
Going into details, its screen exhibits a resolution of 1,440 x 720 pixels and covers 81% of the front with an 18.9 aspect ratio, something commendable for its low price. Additionally, it has a 2.5D curved glass coating and achieves a brightness of 400 nits , which is again a good thing in this context. However, not because the Neffos A5 is cheap can we ignore those old-fashioned bezels and that plastic design, but it is what you would expect.
The body of the terminal has dimensions of 162.8 x 78 x 9.75 millimeters together with a weight of 188 grams, so it is a relatively thin device, but not exactly light. Finally, the color presentations of the TP-Link Neffos A5 are: dark gray, emerald green and monet color, which is a combination of blue, pink and purple in gradient tones, quite beautiful, to tell the truth.
Hardware and Features
The TP-Link Neffos A5 does not surprise us in this department, given that it only has a Spreadtrum SC73731E chip along with 1GB of RAM , but at least it comes with 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded to 128GB through the help of a Micro card. -SD. Although it is not a powerful combination of Hardware, it must be taken into account that the objective of the terminal is not to surprise enthusiasts, but to satisfy the needs of people who want good performance without having to spend more than 100 euros. Also, most phones with Android Go usually come with 8GB of RAM, a figure that is doubled in the Neffos A5.
In another vein, the battery that powers the Neffos A5 has a capacity of 3.050mAh and if not well consists of fast charge, has certified security TÜV Rheinland . It is worth mentioning that this charge is carried out through an outdated Micro-USB port and according to the manufacturer, it can offer up to 6 hours of continuous video with a single charge, although that yes, being offline.
The operating system that brings the Neffos A5 to life is the Go edition of Android 9 Pie , which is not bad and makes it possible for the terminal to operate with only 1GB of RAM, but we honestly would have preferred the most recent version that is based on Android 10, which has been available for a long time. There is also no mention of a possible upgrade to Android 10.
In the aspect of connectivity we must criticize the lack of 4G LTE, which makes this device a 3G smartphone in the middle of 2020, a bit disappointing. The rest of the supported standards are Wi-Fi b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / A-GPS and Glonass .
Looking on the positive side of things, being a smartphone manufactured by TP-Link, this mobile has EMC technology along with a unique antenna design that contributes to improving the signal, thus offering more stable navigation and clearer calls.
Cameras
Finally, we have the cameras, where we will find a 5MP rear sensor accompanied by its respective LED flash . For its part, the front camera stays at 2MP . Despite the low resolution of the Neffos A5 sensors , this mobile has facial recognition through artificial intelligence. According to the company, the data concerning facial unlocking is stored in the TrustZone platform for greater security.
