In recent days Samsung made headlines for announcing a new processor proposal for mid-range mobile devices , but it was not the only thing it had to announce in this field. And it is that in the last day the launch of Exynos 850 has been made official , a proposal aimed at those manufacturers who wish to create devices with a great price-performance ratio .
If it was already mentioned that the Exynos 880 was an interesting alternative for Smartphones with “Premium” mid-range specifications with support for 5G connectivity, on this occasion Samsung Exynos 850 points to a series of inferior devices in their performance, being limited to networks 4G and with an 8 nanometer lithograph .

Unlike what is usually found in the market, where the different cores are divided into a cluster dedicated to the most intensive processing tasks and another with lower energy consumption for the simplest activities, here it has been chosen to use eight Cortex A55 cores at an identical frequency of 2 GHz.
On the other hand, a Mali-G52 GPU is accompanied, which makes it clear that we are facing an architecture released several years ago on the market and that it does not promise great results in the face of higher demands. Likewise, there is support for displays with a maximum Full HD + resolution (2520 x 1080 pixels), LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage .
It is also worth mentioning that Exynos 850 has compatibility for cameras up to 21.7 megapixels or a combination of 16 megapixel main sensor accompanied by a secondary 5 megapixel sensor, while there is no lack of support for video recording in Full HD at a rate of 60 frames per second and presence of HEVC (H.265), H.264 and VP8 codecs.
Finally, the processor has access to already common mobile networks, LTE Cat 13 or 4G, while Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 5, GPS positioning technology, GLOINASS, BeiDou and Galileo are not lacking, and even support for FM radio. In general, what is expected of an accessible mid-range in modern times.
What do you think of the new Exynos 850 ? Do you think it is enough for the current demands?
