Snapchat returns to challenge Tiktok

Social media is in constant rivalry over who dominates the market and who is lagging.

This time Snapchat made a comeback with its latest release in Australia and New Zealand on Snapchat Sounds, an option to add music to content. This clearly reflects an alert to Tiktok for the interactive implementation of the app. Users will be able to add song tracks before and after image or video capture, however it has only been enabled for IOS .

Another novelty is that the app has incorporated the new song by Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco – “Lonely” so that they can add it to their captured moments and be able to be shared.

Likewise, the order of the songs will be easy to access, since, when sharing content with a song, the user will only have to swipe up to access the artist’s full album, through a streaming platform such as Spotify, Apple Music or SoundCloud. This will provide a more detailed look at the music industry.

At the same time, the yellow application has partnered with Spotify to launch the first lens of the Spotify augmented reality portal, this allows users to dabble in the Latinx gallery for the celebration of Latinx Heritage Month that will be launched in its next application.

What Snapchat hopes is to create its own songs so that users have the same Tiktok experience and counteract the rapid growth of the famous app, they have not yet released a date for this update.

On the other hand, Snapchat has released an improved version which is Lens Studio 3.2. In this, the user can create designs on the smartphone through the video camera. This system focuses on LiDAR technology which is a scanner that Apple incorporated into the Iphone 12 Pro and Iphone 12 Pro Max.

What is LiDAR technology about?

This is based on augmented reality, that is, by means of some filters we can simulate non-existent objects in a room of our home or make abrupt changes in scenarios, all through LiDAR Scanner technology.

This technology scans the spatial dimensions of the focused places allowing to implement the projected figure in the chosen space. This has already been tested by the automotive industry and the video game industry, thus guaranteeing the new experience that users will live.

While Snapchat signals a strong revolution, the future of Tiktok is uncertain given that in the US it is going through a ban.

Snapchat’s target audience is viewed for a younger population, in the United States the virality of people who use the application is between 13 and 24 years old, with more than 4,000 million Snaps created per day. They claim that this population reaches 90% of young people and as mentioned is greater than Facebook, Messenger and Instagram combined.

Will Snapchat manage to position itself as the best application in the future trend and with it a decline of Tiktok or even Instagram Reels is approaching? The rivalry between social networks is growing uncontrollably, we are in the time where the one who offers the most and keeps the audience satisfied, wins.
