THE ART OF DRAWING WITH SAND
Here is an activity that combines art and sand. Of course, you can do the business anywhere; we have experienced it within our area with the sandbox, where the primary material for this activity was abundant: sand! It also made cleaning really easy. THE ART OF DRAWING WITH SAND
Here is the list of everything you need for this activity:
-sand
– cardboard or stiff paper (dark colors will make the sand stand out better)
-glue
-a pencil.
1. Draw a design on the cardboard.2. Go over all the lines with glue (regular vinyl glue is fine). This is a great practice for fine motor control!
3. Sprinkle the wet glue with sand. (We made a funnel out of a square piece of paper for a more controlled application of the sand.)4. Shake off excess sand. The masterpiece is finished!
Make sure you let the glue dry completely first to prevent the design from getting damaged. Thread a string or thick thread through the holes (pre-drilled) to hang it and let the little artist take home the sand artwork or create a space to display it in your setting.
