During IFA 2019 in Berlin we had the opportunity to see first-hand the LG G8X ThinQ , a mobile that stands out not only for its cutting-edge hardware, but also thanks to its dual screen, which elevates the multitasking experience several steps up. It is an alternative to folding phones, but one that draws attention in its own right, and now this innovative mobile has officially arrived in Spain and we are here to tell you all the details about it.
LG G8X ThinQ: OLED FullVision Displays: The LG G8X ThinQ with double screen is presented in Spain
Reiterating what we already knew about the LG G8X ThinQ, it is characterized by its two 6.4-inch OLED FullVision screens , which offer us a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5: 9 each. Both have a drop-shaped notch, but only the main screen actually has a camera.
The secondary screen is known as Smart Screen and is attached to the main panel by a hinge capable of rotating 360 °. As if that were not enough, a 2.1-inch notification screen is located on the outside of the terminal. It is monochrome and is designed to display items such as time, date, battery, incoming calls, and app notifications.
The set is IP68 certified against water and dust , and on top of that it meets the MIL-STD military resistance standard, so it is a more robust device than it appears.
The Smart Screen is equipped with its own USB port and an SDM 855 chipset . In addition, the set features two 1.2-watt speakers with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC stereo sound. And finally, the main screen is equipped with an essential fingerprint reader to conveniently unlock the device.
Hardware and Features
The LG G8X ThinQ is a flagship with the best hardware available to date, therefore with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor that is accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage . The latter is expandable up to 2TB through a Micro-SD card.
The terminal is powered by a 4,000mAh battery compatible with Qualcomm 4.0 fast charge and wireless. On the other hand, the device runs Android 9.0 Pie and has the following connectivity options: 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5, NFC and USB type C.
Cameras
On a photographic level, the LG G8X ThinQ offers a dual rear camera of 12MP (F1.8 / 1.4μm / 78˚) plus 13MP with super wide angle (F2.4 / 1.0μm / 136˚) . It may not sound like much on paper, especially considering that we already have mobile cameras with up to 108MP and 5 sensors, but the terminal makes up for it with optimizations at the software level and artificial intelligence (AI Action Shot). The latter provides image stabilization and improves shots by automatically adjusting the ISO and shutter speed.
At the video level, you can shoot in 4K resolution and create artistic time-lapse videos at this resolution. On the other hand, we have the front camera, which uses a 32MP sensor and has artificial intelligence and portrait mode .
