The next iPhone and bad luck: will it be christened the iPhone 13?

We start month and week, today March 1, leaving a question in the air that we are going to try to answer. It is not uncommon for some technology manufacturers to decide to “skip” a generation in the nomenclature of their terminals to avoid certain numbers considered unlucky, such as 4 or 13. For that reason, it is inevitable for Apple fans to start making guesses on the possibility of the next iPhone changing its name to try to avoid this superstition.

But what do we know from the name? The company has not commented, so we have decided to take the historical record to see how Apple has traditionally reacted to these types of issues.

iPhone 4, iOS 13 … Apple does not understand bad luck: The next iPhone and bad luck: will it be christened the iPhone 13?

In view of the decisions made in the past, it seems that the Cupertino company does not heed superstitions. The truth is that it has not always followed the logical order, so we might think that the number 13 could be avoided, but, for now, there are no compelling reasons for this.

Those considered “unlucky numbers,” such as 4 or 13, two numbers that are considered to attract bad energy in China and the West, respectively, have had their share of prominence in Apple’s ranks. We had an  iPhone 4  in 2010 and also an  iOS 13 in 2019.

What will the next iPhone be called?

For now, all the leaks speak of an  iPhone 13 , although there could be the possibility that the company used the name of  iPhone 12s  or  iPhone 14 . To date, only numbers 2 and 9 have been avoided , while 10 was replaced by an X.

Next fall we will get out of doubt and see if Apple suffers from triscaidecaphobia or if, on the contrary, it continues with its logical number line.
