We have the chotis , a traditional dance from Madrid. Chotis dancers are called chulapos and chulapas. It is danced in pairs and it is quite static.

In the Canary Islands there are different typical dances, such as the isa, the malagueñas and the folía.

In the Balearic Islands we also find different dances, which are included under the name of Ball de Bot .

In Ceuta we have the shikat, a dance of Moroccan origin that resembles the belly dance.

In Melilla, the dance of the belly is the typical dance of the region.

Regional dance festivals: Traditional dances from each region

In Spain, several regional dance festivals and dance cycles are held every year. And, due to the popularity that some Spanish dances have reaped abroad, festivals of traditional Spanish dances are held outside our borders.

The Cantalejo Regional Dance Festival is held in this Segovian town every year, in which we can enjoy jotas, mayos, Seguidillas and many other dances.

The National Folklore Festival shows folk dances and songs from Andalusia and Murcia.

In Ponferrada the Regional Dance Festival is celebrated every year.

At the international level, traditional dance groups from Galicia and Asturias take part in the Lorient Inter-Celtic Festival (France).

Each community has its typical regional costume, used to dance the typical dances.
