Latin and the advantages of studying it
Despite being an interesting subject, to say the least, many students find it difficult to pass exams and acquire knowledge. And, although as Spanish speakers we know many structures of Latin, after all it is another language with its declensions and cases and it can be, many times, overwhelming.
Doesn’t that sound familiar to you about declensions and cases? We explain it to you: a declension is a set of ways in which a word, be it a noun, an adjective or a pronoun, is declined, that is, depending on the function of each word in the text, it will have one form or another of be written (like this, so as not to complicate it too much). As for the cases, there are several types: nominative, vocative, accusative, genitive, dative, ablative and locative, and they serve for the noun to express a syntactic function. For example, the nominative expresses the subject function, so you can place it in Spanish.

- Experts in Romance languages: the only way to become a complete specialist in languages such as Spanish, French or Italian is to know and do well in Latin, as it is the root of all Romance languages.
- General culture: Latin was the language in which the greatest discoveries in philosophy, theology and politics were expressed, so knowing this language will help you better understand all these basic principles of human knowledge.
- Physics or chemistry? We don’t know if you have noticed it, but Latin is essential in the scientific world; Most scientific names come from this language and chemical symbols are usually represented by the first letters of their name in Latin.
