Becoming a Spanish teacher with a master’s degree

The prospect of becoming an ELE teacher and transmitting the passion for Spanish is what usually leads university students to pursue a master’s degree.
Of course, the teaching profession is the first that comes to mind when we do a master’s degree in Spanish as a foreign language, and, in fact, that is where we usually direct our expectations.
Because although we can become project managers or even responsible for a linguistic resource center , the ELE master’s degree orients us mainly towards teaching. Therefore, we must be attentive to the offer in this area and understand the challenges of the teaching profession.
It is not about being a normal Spanish teacher, but the ELE teacher stands as a guide, a support for immigrants who do not speak Spanish, or for foreign and international students who want to acquire notions of it and much more.
After a master’s degree in ELE, it is enough to train in teaching ELE to be able to practice. You can take one of the courses that are organized for the preparation of the Diplomas in Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE).
By obtaining this type of training, you will have the recognition of an official body ( Instituto Cervantes ), in addition to mastering educational tools and teaching the Spanish language. This type of course can be done in person at any of the Institute’s headquarters or online.
Anyway, after an ELE master, it will not be too difficult for you to find a job as a teacher. It is always helpful to have a Spanish teacher if you don’t speak the language, right?
Although the offer of training in Spanish as a foreign language is quite wide, the professional objective of this type of training is even more: teaching Spanish as a foreign language is to live an era, a society and a way of seeing life very different from the one local Spanish teacher. In short, a whole world will open to you thanks to ELE teaching.
