An ancient and decidedly Made in Italy game, it is a classic of the Christmas holidays but you can always play it. There are several variations, including bingo for children.

Bingo for children: from the Bourbon court to family parties

The bingo game is almost 300 years old and is a board game invented in Naples, following a dispute between King Charles of Bourbon and Father Gregorio Maria Rocco over the lottery game. The prelate considered the lottery game immoral while the king wanted to keep it under his control to avoid clandestine gambling.

They came to an agreement establishing a ban on playing lotto during the Christmas holidays, and it was then that the Neapolitan families organized a home version of the game: bingo.

Bingo is a fairly simple game and children can play the traditional game from the preschool age, having fun covering the boxes with the numbers that are drawn. And you can also play remotely, perhaps connected with grandparents or distant cousins, just have the board and folders!

There are also many versions more suitable for little ones, with animals instead of numbers, for example. Extracting numbers, words or objects, identifying them in the boxes, is a convivial activity that stimulates the attention and verbal and numerical skills even of the little ones.

Bingo for children: our proposals

Let’s come to our bingo, all different, fun and educational:

• Re..tombola . The folders in this game are completed by associating images whose names rhyme. A system to enrich the vocabulary while having fun.
• Bingo of the sounds of the environment . In this game you have to recognize the sounds by associating them with the environment and the source from which they come (house, street, park). It stimulates observation and description skills, auditory skills, enrichment of the vocabulary.
• Maxi bingo of colors . Tokens of shape and color of the objects represented must be placed on the table, favoring the recognition of colors through observation and manipulation.
• Maxi bingo of animals . Large-format animal photographs for younger children, each of which must be placed on its card. Play promotes identification and verbal expression.
• The real bingo of the multiplication tables . Instead of the number, the multiplication table is extracted (for example 7 × 8) and the child must cover the result box (in our example 56). Play, fun and math, all in one!
