    Global and manual motor skills in preschool age

    In the phase of life that goes from 0 to 6 years, global and manual motor skills are the basis for determining the correct development of the child and subsequent progress in the school environment.

    To dedicate the right space to these activities, it is necessary first of all:

    • let the little one freely explore the environment that surrounds him, to get to know and experience;
    • devote time to playful activity;
    • give space to the free expression of the child.

    In short, the point is not to impose pre-established activities on the child, but to accompany him in the discovery of the world and of himself in order to have the correct perception of his own body and how to manage its movements.

    TOOLS FOR GLOBAL AND MANUAL MOTOR SKILLS

    What can mum and dad do to make their child acquire correct global and manual motor skills?

    First of all, devote some time to him, following him in the discovery of the world around him. And then proposing activities that are not full of instructions, which could create frustration, but which allow the little one to explore and self-correct in the movements again.

    Here are some of our proposals:

    • Joints with knobs . Joints with colored shapes and knobs to be able to grasp the shapes.
    • Environment and our senses . A kit to associate different objects and situations to the senses engaged in their “observation”.
