How to know what kind of voice we have?

Our anatomy defines the type of voice we have.
The vocal range is the extension from the lowest to the highest note that a voice can produce.
To know what type of voice you have you need a piano or keyboard . If you don’t have one at home, you can search for an application on your mobile or tablet or a virtual piano on the Internet.
Once you have the keyboard, find C4 ( middle C). Once this note is located, begin to imitate it with your voice. The sound of your voice should blend into the sound of the C4 key.
Once you have known how to position your voice in C4, it is time to move around the keyboard to see how far you can go. Start by scrolling to the lower pitches (to the left). Score until you hit the note and repeat the process towards the higher notes. Write yourself down until you notice you’ve arrived. This is your vocal range.

Depending on your vocal range , you will have one type of voice or another: How to know what kind of voice we have?

Can we choose our type of voice?

Nature gives us a particular type of voice that we must learn to work with.
This is something that seems obvious, but we cannot choose a voice, we are born and developed with a certain voice as the years go by . However, today there are resources that can help us change our voice.
The voice as a work tool allows us to link our character, desires and professional perspectives based on time, work and ambition.
The voice of a singer depends on multiple criteria , such as morphology (breathing and the speech apparatus are the basic foundations of the voice) or personality. For example, a more or less deep voice will be possible thanks to the thickness of the vocal cords , but not only because of that!
In fact, the power of the lungs or the capacity of the rhinopharyngeal cavity will be important elements to define the type of voice one has. Not forgetting vocal fatigue, of course.
The main idea is not to change the voice, whatever it is, but to tame it, work it and do it in a way that is consistent with expectations and desires. Among the various tips that can be given, we cite:
Adopt a straight posture , to breathe easier.
Breathe through the diaphragm . It takes work, but when your abdomen inflates when you inhale and deflates when you exhale, we win!
Articulating each harmonic, each consonant, each vowel … will be much easier, but you have to learn how to do it!
Beyond determining your type of voice, it is above all about knowing how to educate it to master it, in the best of cases. For example, a mixed voice will give us more play but will be more difficult to control. An example of a mixed voice would be a vocal organ between the voice of Beyoncé and Ariana Grande.
