    Kinetic sand is regular sand that has been coated with silicone oil, said Rick Sachleben, a member of the American Chemical Society. “Silicone” doesn’t refer to one specific material but rather a group of materials that contain the elements silicon and oxygen.

    The kinetic sand is fun and challenging game that allows children to develop dexterity, creativity and design skills. A real resource for their psychophysical development.

    Letting them play freely with kinetic sand is ideal, but we have collected here some ideas for activities to offer to children or to do together with them to give them new and fun ideas.

    Kinetic sand or slate?

    From writing by the sea onwards, sand has always been a natural blackboard on which to leave drawings or messages.

    You can replicate the same activity with kinetic sand, spreading it on a tray or on a cloth, in order to create a slate on which to write or draw, to then erase with the hand and start over again.

    A home made marble track

    Another common use of sand on the beach is to make it a marble track. Track that can be recreated on a small scale even at home with kinetic sand. It doesn’t take much to start endless races.

    Play with geometric shapes

    Create geometric shapes with sand and then observe and compare them with each other. And then playing with the overlapping of shapes, a pastime that amuses and facilitates learning from an early age.

    Return to the tray and spread the sand, then draw a series of equidistant points horizontally and vertically with a toothpick. Finally, you decide which design to create by connecting the dots.

    The painted sand

    There is already colored kinetic sand , but you can also use natural colored sand and paint your creations. To do this you need to use specific water-based colors and they can make the drawings on the sand board into real paintings.
