The neighbors

There are two ways to contact neighbors: door-to-door or by posting on the mailbox.

It can be a bit strange to suddenly arrive at your neighbor’s door to tell him that you are teaching Russian conversation classes . You can also talk to them at a party with the neighbors or after their children’s school.

Your neighbors can allow you to constantly expand your network. Because each person you talk to knows others and may be able to recommend you when someone they know has a need to learn Russian.

However, less intrusive than door-to-door is the mailbox announcement, which helps to introduce the message in a smoother way. Be original but concise:

  • The nature of the classes : intensive courses, evening classes, summer courses, group classes, private classes …
  • The level of the students you are targeting : university, high school, opponents, exam preparation, adults …
  • Your career : diplomas and experience.
  • Your learning method and your pedagogy.

You can put a photo and your address so that your neighbors know where to go and talk about it when they pass you.

The markets

Even if Russian is not your native language, you can offer individual or group classes to beginner or intermediate level students.

Visit the shops in the neighborhood leaving your ad.

Ask them if you can put up your ad and, of course, tell them that you are teaching Russian . So you can establish links and expand your network again.

The bakery, the butcher, the pharmacy, the tobacconist … Make the whole journey through your neighborhood or your town to offer your services.

Your ad should be more concise than the one you send through the mailbox . Try adjusting the information to fit on the middle of an A4 size sheet. Traders sometimes don’t have a lot of space to offer.

Indicate the nature of your classes and the level of the students you are addressing. You can specify your status: “A student on a master’s degree in teaching offers Russian lessons to high school students.”

Write your phone number at the bottom of the page with your name and ” Russian teacher “. Cut the phones into strips so that they can take the information with them, this will make it easier for potential students because that way they will have your business card.
