The Japanese archipelago, a unique culture
The Japanese writing system was invented by the influence of Chinese Buddhist monks in the 4th century AD.
For this reason, many Japanese ideograms come from Chinese characters.
The Japanese language is called, in linguistics, binder: the constituent elements of a sentence are glued – agglutinated – to each other.
In Japanese, there is no article, no gender, no number, and verbs are not conjugated according to people.
Most Japanese do not know all the kanji, since they come from Chinese characters.

Learning to speak Japanese is also discovering the manga universe. The figures for literary production are incontestable:
- in 2008, 15 million sleeves were sold
- the turnover is almost 95 million euros
- more than 300 video games come from manga
- in 2002, the manga market accounted for 22.6% of the profits of the Japanese publishing industry
- 38.1% of the books and magazines published in Japan were manga
- one Japanese in twelve reads at least one manga per week
Learning Japanese through its literary, film and video game culture means:
