What are the differences between the two cities?
Moscow, capital of Russia with 12 million inhabitants, can be visited with affordable flights: from € 200 round trip. Food, transport and hotels are cheaper than in Spain.
Moscow is famous for its party. Its inhabitants have a reputation for being friendlier, but also more superficial than in St. Petersburg. But culture is also present in Moscow: the Kremlin, Red Square, Lenin’s Mausoleum, Saint Basil’s Cathedral …
Saint Petersburg is known as the capital of the tsars. It is less extensive than its older sister, but it is still larger than Madrid, with more than 4 million inhabitants.
The architectural style is similar to that of Moscow, but with some notable differences. The architecture of St. Petersburg is colder than that of Moscow because it is very organized and does not have the small alleys and dead ends that give Moscow that charm. The northern capital has remained close to its European heritage and its inhabitants are discreet and more open-minded than their Muscovite neighbors.
But what stands out in Saint Petersburg is the culture, with its many churches and museums of art, chocolate or torture, but especially its Hermitage Museum!
