What is the history of Pilates?

Pilates is considered a very complete discipline with many benefits.
The origin and history of Pilates  are, in fact, quite recent, since this discipline was born  at the beginning of the 20th century . It was created by the German  Joseph Hubertus Pilates , who gave it his name. Pilates worked for several years caring for war patients in England, and began to devise a way for these people to regain their mobility and fitness. Therefore, the Pilates method is first and foremost the creation of a health professional, who originally conceived it as a method of rehabilitation.
In fact, after practicing many activities such as aerobics, boxing, yoga or skiing, Joseph Pilates developed his own method,  inspired by his own influences . These were the beginnings of the Pilates method, which he called at first “contrology” (from the English term  contrology ).
Pilates developed all of these breathing and muscle toning movements in war hospitals and designed what could be considered the first rehabilitation machines. His first guinea pigs  were captivated by the consciousness  that was awakened within them when they performed these practices and by the improvement of their physical condition through regular practice. Thus he was born the pilates !
It was in New York, in the United States, where Joseph Pilates moved with his family after the war and where he opened  his first Pilates studio on Broadway . His first clients were dancers who were interested in the benefits that this method gave him after his hard dance rehearsals. So even after his death, his students kept the discipline alive,  a combination of physical exercise and the gentle method .
Today, therefore, Pilates has become a discipline  that has spread outside the United States  and is recognized  worldwide . Between the practice of yoga, light aerobics and dance, the method of Joseph Pilates has not decreased at any time; hence we can understand that there are more than 30,000 practitioners a year in the world.
In short, Pilates is a complete and enriching discipline , combining many timeless and effective values for everyone. What are you waiting to try it?
