In which neighborhood to stay in Kyoto?: Finding accommodation for your stay in Kyoto

It doesn’t matter where you stay in Kyoto; the main thing is to have access to the subway . Whether you’re staying in Gion or northern Kyoto, a subway station will save the day. The Kyoto subway lines run through the entire city, from the hypercenter to Arashiyama via Higashiyama to the east.
However, you can base your choice on three criteria : proximity, attractiveness, and price. Basically, you can remember that:
Gion is an ideal place to stay in Kyoto because it has the best hotels in the city and its setting is exceptional.
Arashiyama can be a good option if it is your second trip to the city and you want to see other things and be more calm.
The hypercenter is the most convenient and all the hotels are close to the train station.
Higashiyama is great to visit, but it is almost impossible to stay there.
The north and south have a lot of heritage, but it is not advisable to stay there.
Therefore, it is up to you to choose it according to the location, but also according to the price  of the accommodation. Obviously, hotels in Gion will be more expensive than in the outskirts of Kyoto.

Choose the type of accommodation well

Your budget is an important point that will define your entire trip to Kyoto, and also your accommodation. There are many  hostels in Kyoto  at very reasonable prices: less than € 60 per night for one person.
If you want cheaper accommodation, you can opt for  Capsule Hotels  if you go alone and want to stay for less than € 40 per night. Finally, if you want to spend your vacation in Japan as if you lived there, take a look at  AirBnb . You will find rooms with all the comforts for € 120 or less in the center of Kyoto.
If your budget is higher, you may consider booking  a hotel or a ryokan , the traditional accommodation in the city. Your experience will be incredible and sometimes in the ryokan there are onsen or you can do activities like the tea ceremony.
