How to undo an embroidery?
When we start to embroider, we can make a mistake and therefore have to remove one or two embroidery stitches. With a needle, it will be enough to remove the last two stitches and start embroidering correctly with the embroidery thread.
However, sometimes the error can be greater and you have to start over. In this way, it will be necessary to delete everything to start over.
Re-embroidering is not the only reason why some embroiderers decide to stitch an embroidery from a linen or other fabric. It may be the case that we are tired of this or that reason or that we want to give the cushions a new look and have to remove the embroidery they have. When removing an embroidery, the object can be reused in another way and personalized to our liking.
It may also be the case that you want to reuse a fabric that you have already embroidered on. This may be your case if you are starting to embroider, since you will need to practice several times. Removing all embroidery threads allows you to recover a blank canvas without having to buy a piece of Aida fabric, for example.
But how can an embroidery be undone?
First, you will need a seam ripper, embroidery or sewing scissors, and a utility knife . This last accessory may seem strange but it saves time.
Start by flipping the embroidery over, and then using the utility knife, cut the threads that are sticking out. Then flip the embroidery over to the right side and, with the seam ripper, pull the threads one after the other to remove them from the canvas. It can be a long and tedious job.
You can also use masking tape to remove all the embroidery threads faster.
In the case of text embroidery or small embroidery, you can also use a pair of scissors to gradually cut all the threads, instead of using the seam ripper. Everyone is free to choose the technique with which they feel most comfortable.
The result should be the ideal after this operation. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out this work with patience . However, undoing an embroidery made on stretch fabric is not recommended.
